Posting this from my laptop right now !

Turns out my laptop's motherboard was covered with an extended warranty because there was a design defect that caused the malfunction.
I was able to convince the local service center using a document I printed from HP's website. They then gave me the number of HP's middle east service center, who confirmed I was eligible for a free replacement of the motherboard.
Exactly one week later as advertised I receive the laptop fully functional without paying a dime! I was already preparing to pay 1700 pounds to buy the replacement board and even contemplating not fixing the laptop and buying a new one.
I can't believe this happened in the middle east! I had lost faith in HP after this ordeal, but now I can recommend it to anyone, and I would also buy a care pack
