I wanted to try out the new skype beta, still not native 64bit, but with promise of improved audio call quality and stability. On debian experimental I had a problem that it crashed right after trying to make a call or setup the audio device. I found this bug :

The workaround that worked for me ( even if you are not using pusleaudio at all ):

chmod 000 /usr/lib32/libpulse*

One more reason to hate pulseaudio.
